The National Safe Schools Framework defines the nine key elements of a safe and supportive learning community. The Safe Schools Toolkit is arranged around the nine elements, bringing together video clips, interviews, activities and strategies on each, with case studies from a range of school settings that illustrate effective implementation.

New content for specialist staff in schools and parents is now available on the Safe Schools Hub

The Safe Schools Hub is underpinned by the National Safe Schools Framework, which aims to ensure that all Australian schools are safe, supportive and respectful teaching and learning communities that promote student wellbeing.

In addition to the Safe Schools Toolkit published earlier this year, the website now includes a professional learning module for specialist staff in schools and a section for parents.

Help make your school a safe school by spreading the word about the Safe Schools Hub. Visit

Professional learning module for specialist professionals working in schools has been launched.

Specialist professionals working in schools, such as guidance officers, chaplains and well-being coordinators, can now access a self-paced online learning program focused on the National Safe Schools Framework. This professional learning module explores a whole-school approach to student well-being and how it can be supported and enhanced by the non-teaching specialist professionals in schools. Please visit http://www.safeschoolshub.edu.au/safe-schools-toolkit/professional-learning/ to access the professional learning module.

Introduce Safe Schools Hub to your Parents

To make sure that the Safe Schools Hub provides resources that are relevant to parents and will assist in their parenting role, key parent organisations have been involved in its development. The Safe Schools Hub for Parents provides:

  • a guide to the National Safe Schools Framework, a student wellbeing approach supported  by all Australian education authorities
  • ideas about how parents can connect positively with schools
  • strategies for positive communication between parents and children
  • advice for building and nurturing positive behaviour
  • guidance on how to encourage  positive  social values in children
  • what parents can look for to ensure their children’s wellbeing is enhanced and protected
  • the best online resources for parents.
